Teen dramas are usually divided into two categories. One is youth drama and the other is high school drama.
Youth drama focus on the social dilemmas faced by the main, often male character. The character is often rebellious or in conflict with others or even both.
High school drama often but not always, celebrate the idea of being young or youth as fun. They tend to focus on changes, make-overs and conflict within different groups at the school.
An example of a youth drama would be La Haine.
An example of a high school drama would be Breakfast Club.
