The different technologies that I used for the title sequence would be Final Cut Pro, Motion, Gargeband, camera, video drive and memory card. Although we used so many technologies for the process of constructing the media product, we believe that there were only several technologies that were very important, that would be the camera, Final Cut Pro, Motion and Gargeband.



Final Cut Pro is a non-linear video editing software. Garageband is a software application that allows users to create music or podcasts. Motion is a software application produced by Apple for their Mac OS X operating system. It is used to create and edit motion graphics, titling for video production and film production, and 2D and 3D compositing for visual effects.

Final Cut Pro was the technology that was used to edit the title sequence merging the different videos we shot to form the title sequence. From Final Cut Pro, we also edited the title sequence making some of them being able to fade adding effect to the film opening. Motion was the technology that we used to make the title sequence credits. This was then added to the Final Cut Pro to build everything together to make the film opening. Gargeband was the technology that was used to make the foley sounds for the film opening which added the effects of cars driving past and clothes being put on as well, we also used it to make the voice over at the beginning of our film opening. Camera was the technology that was used to shoot the whole of the film opening making the different scenes.

All the technologies that was used were very useful but the most useful one would have to be the camera and Final Cut Pro. This is because without the camera, we wouldn't be able to film the whole film opening. Final Cut pro is also very important because without Final Cut Pro, we wouldn't be able to edit the whole videos that we had shot for the film opening. The most creative would be Motion because using Motion, you can make your film opening credits look like anything especially with making the distribution company and production company. The least useful would have to be Gargeband, this is because what we done on Gargeband, we could have used youtube to find cars driving by and clothes being put on.

The  role of the feedback was very helpful. It helped us to improve our film in order to make a better appeal to the intended audience as no soundtrack wouldn't have appealed to our target audience would would of got bored.

How we reached our audience would be by making an active website for them to use and get to know the film more as well as the characters too. This helped attract audience as they get to see who's starring in it and can spread the word on about it to friends and tell them the sub genre too as it would have appealed to them.

Another way that we have reached our audience would be by putting the film opening up onto Vimeo for our target audience to see, this helped us to address the audience.

Another way that we attracted our audience would be by creating a film poster for the audience to see. This would then help to attract more audience as we addressed the audience.


This film poster helped to attract the audience because it shows who's starring in Street Love, it also has a background that would help to pull audience in to watch and lastly it has a tagline which helps to attract the right audience to come and watch Street Love.

The wider audience for teen movies in general would be both genders from the ages of 11-25. The reason for this is because pre-teens would want to know what the life of a teenager would be once they reach teenage years and what they could possibly expect. Why teenagers would be the audience for teen movies would be because they would want to see how the life of a teenager is from someones life that is also a teenager. Why young adults might be the target audience for teen movies would be because they can reflect on how teenage life was as they won't be able to experience it again and it is the moment they will have the most fun.










Teen movies were made for teenagers I believe but the audience for teen movies have expanded other time making younger and old people above teenage years watching it now. The target audience for Street Love would be people of the ages 15-19, both genders.

The audience for the sub genre crime is likely to be people from early teens to late teens such as     14-19. Why I think this is because the audience could watch it and then it could help them with life decisions on joining gangs and that gangs are not what it may seems. This would help this sort of audience because it can help them make better decisions on things that probably go through their heads. The target audience for Kidulthood and Attack The Block which are similar media texts to ours would be teenagers as well.

The distribution company and production company that we created in our titles of our own teen movie was Urban Fix Films and Cherry White Production.





Urban Fix Films and Cherry White Productions are two small independent companies that have distributed/produced Street Love. Some examples of media institutions from teen films that are youth drama that would distribute/produce our media product would be HanWay Films. Why HanWay Films would be best distributing our media product is because HanWay Films is also an independent distribution company, they helped distribute Kidulthood which is an inspiration to our media product.

The reason HanWay Films would be best to distribute our media product is because they have distributed a teen movie to an audience that would appeal to Street Love's target audience and they have also distributed a teen movie to a target audience that has the same sub genre as Street Love, the sub genre being crime where Street Love has some similarities to Kidulthood. This also means that HanWay Films would also want to distribute Street Love.



A movie that HanWays Films have distributed in the past would be An Education. An Education happens to be a teen movie as well as Street Love, this makes HanWay Films even more best to distribute our own teen movie.

The type of release that Street Love would expect would be a local release in London. Street Love is also likely to be a theatrical release. Street Love was released in the cinema on 16th March 2015 in TheScreen On The Green.

Representation is the stereotypical things that we would assume that are usually happen in films which often involve gender, age, race etc. Some films that include representation would be Kidulthood where we see black teenagers involved with gangs. This representation would be race where black people are represented as villains.




The types of social groups that we expect to see in title sequences of teen dramas depend on whether it's high school or youth drama. High school would have social groups of squad in their title sequence. A squad is a small group of 3-15 people who work as a team to achieve their goals.
Youth drama would have social groups of gangs in their title sequence. Gangs would usually be an urban group that gathers in a particular area and also have a negative influence.

The title sequence we made for Street Love involved teenage stereotypes that we have seen in other films. The stereotypes that we included of teenagers would be how we see a teenage black boy with the costume of a hoody and also with the props of a bike. This brings out the stereotype of black teenage boys being in gangs and always being in trouble. The other films that we have seen this in would be the youth dramas Kidulthood and as well as Attack The Block. We thought this should be included in the title sequences because it's representation of black teenagers and the audience would understand the main character more if we put him in the costume we did. We thought this would act as a short cut to communicate meaning to our character to the audience.

In the representation of our main character, we decided to show him to the audience as a negative representation. In our title sequence we support the general stereotypes with the main character rather than challenge the general stereotype.


Another way we have supported common stereotypes would be by how the main character is getting his hair done by his girlfriend. This shows the common stereotype of that women are there to take care of the man.



Yes, lighting affected the way we have represented the main character. During the title sequence, you see the main character who is representing the stereotype of young black teenagers being dressed up as a thug and during the title sequence you see him when there is natural lighting which tells the audience about his character falsely. If I could go back to film again, I would make the lighting of the scene more darker like in Attack The Block title sequence (above) as it gives more information to the audience about the character.

Evaluation : Q5. How did I Attract / Address Your Audience ?


After going to watch all our title sequences at the cinemas we asked out target audience how they felt about our title sequences. The DVDs were distributed at our local cinema in islington.



















SOCIAL MEDIA - We had a twitter page this was one of the ways we wanted to attract our target audiences by having a twitter page. as twitter is a well known social networking sites it allows people to interact with others and explore and find out new things so this is why we felt to use twitter to attract our target audience.



The music in our film was energetic/had a beat to it and our target audience will relate to the music as it has an beat to it. the music was a copy right free instrumental from YouTube.






Evaluation : Q2. How Does My Opening Scene Represent Particular Social Groups?


Representation is the description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular way". Our film opening we focused on two teens who are both in love with each other but the boy is also in love with the streets.. We represented these teens in various ways. as we started with a scene of both of them in bed then another scene of the boy outside in the streets on his bike we decided to represent these two teenagers in that way to show the contrast between the main character which was the boy.

 

The stereotypes that we included in our film was the way the teenager dressed. for example we dressed the teenager in dark colours and had props of a bike and the main costume we had was a black hoodie.  


  


In our title sequence e didn't have a particular social groups as we only had a limited actors and our genre was urban teen film and the types of social groups that we expect to see in the title sequences of teen dramas are usually depending on if its an high school or youth drama. as in youth drama the social groups are normally a bunch of different gangs whereas in a high school drama they will be different types of social groups portrayed.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?











Logic pro X was used were we made some pieces of music to see what would go with our title sequence. Even though our final title sequence didn't contain the music we made on logic pro, it still help us discover what sort of music we wanted on out title sequence and also gave us a better understanding and experience on how to use this soft wear.















Final Cut Pro was used once we had filmed multiple shots we wanted to use and were ready to start editing. Final Cut Pro has superior HD video capability, profession lights and colour correction, and has  a large fan and user base allowing lots of help online and video tutorials.
















The JVC video camera was used to record our footage and shots that we wanted to use. While using the camera found out how to go in and out of focus, which could help show different affects in the film.
We also learnt other filming techniques such as zooming in and zooming out to help capture a variety angles and shots.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Target audience is considered in every part of the film industry, in production, distribution and exhibition. This is because careful thought is needed to decide who would be buying the film and where it would be promoted.

For teen dramas the target audience would be young people aged between 15 and 22.
Historically, teen dramas showed teenagers as being part of a large negative group who fell into one of four stereotypes.
The criminal / delinquent
The underachiever / truant
The dumb teen /misfit
The resentful but intelligent teen

Teenagers saw themselves in one of these groups.
Now, teen dramas cover a wider range of types and situations, reflecting more what society is.
The audience for our media product is intelligent, socially aware, urban and even though it is aimed at teens, it can appeal to a slightly older age group.

We feel our media product would have a similar target group to films such as Adulthood, Kidulthood and Shank because the film content and storyline have similar themes.

Conventions are very important to films.
Conventions are there so the audience can relate and also have a better understanding of a film In our film conventions were are main focus especially when it came to our title sequence as the film that inspired us was La haine. In our title sequence we included a voice over at the beginning of the title sequence, this was because so that the audience can understand the story of the main character as it was one of the ways to show the main character's story by using a voice over at the beginning of the film. The film La Haine also uses a voice over.





Kidult hood was also another film that inspired us as kidult hood as we had the same genre which was a teen drama. I feel this film relates to our ideas and concepts the most as it is a drama film based on showcasing the life of a young teenager which is similar to our own storyline.

Conventions of title sequences must contain details of main cast and most important part of production.
It must contain the title of the film.
it must give you an understanding of where and when the film is set.
It should also give you some information about the genre and the characters.

In the title sequence the theme tune should be introduced.
The audience should see different types editing and cinematography that we be repeated and developed throughout the film.

The title sequence will always set the mode and tone of the film.

The purpose is to engage and attract the audience to the film, to convince them to stay and then to establish characters and introduce the story and the story world.

In a teen drama film they have classic stereotypes that are traditionally American.
These films are generally set around a high school, so they cans how all the different teen groups. ( The jock, the cheerleader, the nerd, the outcast, the loner)

The purpose of a title sequence is to introduce the story to the audience and to let them get an understanding of who the main characters are from the beginning letting them know what they're like and for us to see how they develop over the film. The title sequence is also used to let us know whether we will like the film or not as it can be used to connote the genre as well as information to help attract us as the audience to watch it.



What a good title sequence should do is is should involve conventions of the film genre. Conventions are very important to any film. Conventions are involved in films so that the audience have a brief understanding of what they can expect, this really helps because it helps grab their attention to the film. Some conventions of title sequences would be to introduce the protagonist during the film opening, this is so that the audience are introduced to him or her. Some examples of this would be how during the Kidulthood film opening we're introduced to the protagonist that being Trevor.





During Kidulthood we see convention s of title sequences by being introduced to protagonist Trevor. This helps the audience because they get to see the protagonist develop throughout the film which we get to see Trevor do so.

Another example of conventions of title sequence would be from the title sequence we made. From our title sequence for Street Love we decided to introduce the protagonist Kai given him the majority of screen time.

Title sequences are always seen in a strict order when we see film openings. This is for specific reasons. They are constructed to look the way they are because of importance. Production companies and also distribution companies will consistently come first so they gain the recognition that they deserve for the film. The conventional way that we see title credits would be:

In title credits, it's conventional that we will constantly see the director closing the title credits. The function of title credits is that the audience see who has made an input into the making of the film. There are severe punishments for not including people into title credits. George Lucas was fined $250,000 by the directors from Guild of America for not putting the directors name in the opening title credits.
